Op 18 januari 2017 vindt de openbare verdediging plaats van het doctoraal proefschrift van dhr. Frank Stevens.  De verdediging heeft plaats om 17.00 u in zaal 'Rector Blancquaert', Het Pand, Onderbergen 1, 9000 Gent, en wordt gevolgd door een receptie.
 
Title: The Bill of Lading: Holder Rights and Liabilities
Synopsis: “The thesis looks into the position of the third party holder of a bill of lading.  A third party holder is not an original party to the contract of carriage, but does have rights, and possibly liabilities, against the carrier.  Different and sometimes very divergent theories have been proposed to explain the legal position of the third party holder.  These theories are analysed and appraised, and suggestions are made for further development in this area of the law."
